You have surely stumbled across 404 error - „not found” - which inform that it cannot retrieve the page that was requested. Did you know that thanks to special creation on that kind of subpage, it is possible in an easy way to help with finding missing people and show the good side of the Internet?
The look of the page with the error message is possible to change personally and at will, which use website administators.
So besides the classic one:
in the web you can hit upon less or more serious version of error message:
messages taken with a pinch of salt:
and even such ones, which seize an opportunity to promote their product.
The organizations which are finding missing people have decided to use the message of an error 404 - „not found”. Every person, institution, company. which wanted to join the campaign, inserted the line with programistic code on their own www website. Then, when the user hit upon the error 404, besides the standard information, he saw specially made creation which supported finding missing people.
The idea was used in 2012 by polish foundation ITAKA Centre for Missing People established cooperation with Onet.pl and that is why on this popular information web portal and on connected pages (for example Zumi.pl), after writing bad adress, the photographs of missing people were showing.
As representatives of organization notfound.org (which carried our similar action in a few European countries) say, „publishing the photographs of missing people is the most effective way to find them”.
The advantages of that kind solutions are a few: special subpage with error message 404 doesn't distract the user by standard using of the portal, don't use the promotional space, and by surprise – attract attention.
And now the most important part. The action is still continuing!
You just go on the website http://www.zaginieni.pl/wspieram-itake/pomoc-finansowa/zaangazuj-swoja-firme/akcja-na-stronach-404/ and act on the tips, so you can in an easy way do good for an important case and show the good side of the Internet. If you don't have www website, you can send this artictle to your friends or business friends and encourage them to join the action.
